CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Today marks the first day of school for CCISD and the seventh year the district will be offering free breakfast and lunch to thousands of students.
For new CCISD parents who may not know, every student in the district can receive free meals thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision, part of the Texas department of agriculture.
The program allows qualifying districts to serve breakfast and lunch to all students without collecting family applications.
Providing free meals was also at the forefront of Texas lawmakers' minds. Last summer during the 88th legislative session, law makers approved spending over $6 million dollars through the 24-25 school year to cover breakfast costs for students who qualify for reduced price lunch.
CCISD’s August breakfast and lunch menus are complete and can be found now on their website as well as on their district app.
