At a staff meeting Thursday morning, Corpus Christi Police Chief Mike Markle award two police officers with life saving awards for their actions on patrol.

Senior Officer Brandon Cordell provided several minutes of CPR to a patient on Jan. 4 until an ambulance arrived and took the patient to the hospital. The patient made a full recovery.

Senior Officer Vicente Ortiz found a man who hung themselves by the neck from a tree on Feb. 22. Ortiz cut the man down and saved his life.

CCPD Tweeted Thursday that "These are just a few great actions by your Corpus Christi police officers and we are glad to have them as part of our organization to care for our community."
