City Council recognizes volunteer senior fitness coordinator

Betty Guerrero shares her passion for health and wellness by teaching at three senior centers in our area: Greenwood, Lindale and Broadmoor.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Tuesday City Council recognized an amazing woman in our community who spends most of her days volunteering to help keep Corpus Christi seniors active.

City Manager Peter Zanoni introduced Betty Guerrero, saying she has such a great story that he wanted her to come in and share it with council.

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Guerrero has been volunteering with the City's senior fitness program for 16 years, and in that time she has made the leap from student to teacher!

Guerrero shares her passion for health and wellness by teaching at three senior centers in our area: Greenwood, Lindale and Broadmoor. Beloved by her clients, she has regulars coming to her class on a weekly basis, one as old as 90!

All of those hours devoted are just a reflection of her love for our community.

"It's just my passion to help these people to continue to move," Guerrero shared at City Council. "I love being at all the centers because I just make more friends and I can help more people."

May her dedication and hard work serve as inspiration to all of us.
