CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Aransas Pass has received a grant from the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program to make repairs -- possibly completely replace -- the nature boardwalk at the Aquatic Center on 400 East Johnson Avenue.
The boardwalk is a place many residents and visitors go to get a great up-close look at the area's wildlife, but right now there are dangers in doing that as the structure is falling apart.
"The area is very near an island, a small island but we plan to extend the boardwalk over to the island and out the other end of the island and make it a connection all the way around instead of just a straight boardwalk," City Manager Gary Edwards said.
He says that they estimate this project will be complete by the end of the year.
