Cayden Hawkins, is majoring in biology and excited to be starting his journey at the university.

"I feel great,” he said. “It’s a really positive environment around here. I’ve been to really great events like the pool party, the silent disco, so school wasn’t too bad today. It was the first day getting adjusted. I've been having a good time."
Elysa Osuna is studying nursing, and she said she passed over programs in her hometown to be an Islander.

"I heard about the nursing program all the way in San Antonio,” she said. “I heard it was amazing. That it was the Number 1 college on the coast in the U.S., so I was so excited."
