CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The day after Christmas tends to be hectic for retailers, with people exchanging and returning merchandise for items they actually want.
Retail workers had their work cut out for them Tuesday. One shop on Airline Road handled the extra tasks and took it in stride.
At Fleet Feet Corpus Christi, At Fleet Feet Corpus Christi, the post-Christmas foot traffic is extreme. Store manager Mari Pena said that even after Christmas, they are still seeing heavy shopping numbers.
"Now's the time to get what Santa didn't bring," she said.
Pena said that with the new year approaching, many residents are also trying to slip their foot into new habits as well.
"Shoes to get you started for the new year. Everyone's gonna have their new year's resolutions," she said.
Due to the high level of foot traffic, Pena said that she advises residents to pack a lot of patience when heading to any store.
"There's gonna be lines everywhere. Waiting everywhere. But we're definitely here to help you. And we're doing our best," she said.
Cierra Masser with 3rd Coast Beach Company said thanks to tourists, they've made a big profit even in this season.
"I've seen a lot of people go to the beach recently," she said.
Masser said part of the reason why they're busy after Christmas is due to children getting money from their family.
"We get a lot of kids that come in and take a look at our toy section or the cars we have up front. They buy those with their own money," she said.
As busy as the last few days have been, Third Coast's goal now is preparing for the new year.
"Buy all of our surf brands. We need all of them to go. We're getting more in February. So we'll have more of our inventory by then," she said.
For residents looking to exchange or return items at La Palmera Mall, they're still open with extended holiday hours: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. through Thursday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday.
