CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Department will close the Cole Park playground for improvements beginning Monday.
The existing playground will be demolished and a new, 'play-for-all,' multigenerational one will take its place.
The play area is scheduled to reopen on May 29, weather permitting.
This $1.125M project was approved by the voters during the 2022 Bond election, and will include multiple enhancements, including upgraded seating, drainage, and ADA accessibility.
Visitors will still be able to enjoy the park's other amenities, including the pier, plaza, skate park, amphitheater, and walking/bike trail while the playground undergoes construction work.
The city is asking everyone to be cautious and aware of signage and temporary barriers at the work site to maintain the public's safety.
You can also visit McCaughn Park at The Water’s Edge, for the nearest playground along the scenic bayfront.
