CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Del Mar College's 'Community 2 College Connection' career expo is set to take place at the Richard Borchard Regional Fairgrounds Wednesday night.
The event aims to provide students, alumni and the public with information about educational and employment opportunities available through the college.
The event is free and Dr. Carlos Garanzuay, who serves as Del Mar's director of admissions says that the goal of the expo is to make it as easy as possible for students to get an interview and connect with opportunities that get them closer to their education and career goals.
If you are looking for a job, you might be able to walk out of the expo with one. Dr. Garanzuay says to bring your resume and come dressed for an interview.
"We are going to try to make it as convenient as possible for prospective students to be able to come in and provide their documentation of any type of transcripts that they may have," said Garanzuay. "Even if they are starting off the complete process. We can be able to take care of them from admissions to financial aid, veteran's services.
He says it's all to make sure students and people in the community are supported on their academic journeys in the short and long term.
"We are a community college. We are the community's college."
There will be opportunities for the public to connect with industry partners from several vocational fields, including communications, law enforcement, energy and industry.
"We want to build a connection from the community to college, and that allows them to be able to see the duration of being able to get into that process of being employed."
There will also be a wide spectrum of opportunities for students to learn more about different fields of study, including English, kinesiology, nursing, business and entrepreneurship.
Whether you are looking for employment opportunities or want more guidance when it comes to what you're going to study, representatives will be available Wednesday to help you gain some clarity on your path forward.
