CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — If you don't see Chief Meteorologist Alan Holt for a few weeks, that's because he's at home teaching his baby daughter Rayleigh about cold fronts and sunny delights.
Alan will be on paternity leave until Jan. 6.
Rayleigh was born six months ago on May 6, happy and healthy and three weeks before the start of hurricane season.
Alan chose to delay his paternity leave so that he could still lead the 3NEWS weather team through hurricane season and be here for the Coastal Bend. We're very thankful he did because Tropical Storm Alberto and Hurricane Beryl made 2024 the most active June and July start to hurricane season in Coastal Bend history.
But as Alan told viewers a couple weeks ago, his hurricane boards are now packed up for the season. Now he's ready to spend some time at home with his wife and daughter for the final six weeks of the year.
Help us wish the Holts a very happy holiday season, and we'll see Alan back in the new year.
Meteorologists to move to other shows during Alan's leave
With Alan at home, First Edition meteorologist Carly Smith will move to nights starting on Nov. 25 through the end of 2024. Meteorologist Kristin Walla will move to mornings, and meteorologist Faith Colbert will be live on both the morning and evening shows on the weekends.
We really appreciate the hard work and commitment of our entire 3NEWS weather team!
