CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — In just a matter of days, the Corpus Christi Bay will be filled with sailors from across the world, all hoping to win big at the final championship.
In partnership with the yacht club, CITGO Etchells World Championship will take place on Corpus Christi Bay.
Over 100 competitors from ten different countries will set out to claim the winning title, and teams consist of three to four people per sailboat.
According to organizer Shannon Bush, the boats are from other countries and are shipped in containers to Houston and driven to Corpus Christi.
"We'll be racing right out in the bay right outside the cut in them, so the people will be able to see the white boats with white sails for many days this whole month of June," Bush said.
The first part of the competition starts on June 7, which leads up to the championship on June 25.
