Corpus Christi's VA Outpatient Clinic to reopen March 19

The entire building was already dated, and Hurricane Harvey was the tipping point resulting in gutting it entirely. Now it is back and better than ever.

Many Coastal Bend veterans with serious health care needs have had to go elsewhere for treatment since Hurricane Harvey.

For the past six months, the V.A.'s outpatient clinic in Corpus Christi has been shut down for repairs. Thankfully, it's finally reopening.

The entire building was already dated, and Hurricane Harvey was the tipping point resulting in gutting it entirely. Now it is back and better than ever.

The clinic originally had 21 exam rooms and now it has 34, making it easier to accommodate the over 100 patients they see daily.

Another efficient renovation is the core. It's a central location where doctors, nurses and anyone involved with a patient is located that way they can go room to room without having to go across the building.

There is a triage room for patients who come in unexpectedly, a dedicated women's health center, and a mental health office.

The cost of the entire project was $1.9 million. It will officially reopen March 19.
