Another meeting took place between the hospital district and CHRISTUS Spohn Health to discuss the future of the emergency medicine residency program.
Supporters said the program reduces the time people spend waiting in the ER. There has been an outpouring of attention from the medical community and residents alike since the decision last month to close the educational program.
3NEWS asked Nueces County Judge Connie Scott if the fate of the program depends on a specific dollar amount.
"I wouldn't say that there's a number. this is too important," she said. "The meetings were about us all coming together and finding ways that we can come together to solve that problem, if nothing else. and I think if you get multiple entities involved we're gonna work it out and make sure our citizens are taken care of."
Scott said she's encouraged by what she's seen so far and is hopeful that the program will continue well on into the future.
