CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Monday marks the first day of classes for students at Del Mar College! Known for it's affordability and flexibility, for nearly 90 years, DMC has provided career opportunities and experiences for thousands for students.
Executive vice president and COO Lenora Keas spoke with First Edition about new campus renovations and their new bachelor's degree program ahead of the Fall semester.
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management and Leadership degree is the DMC's second bachelor's program they've ever offered. The college started offering their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree back in 2021.
Assistant Professor of Business Administration, Dr. Charles “Chip” Campbell spoke told First Edition about what the new degree program has to offer while students Chef Elizabeth Tressider and Henry Sanchez spoke about why they chose to pursue the bachelor's' degree starting this fall.
Tressider received her Associate in Applied Science degree in Baking/Pastry Specialization back in 2020. She's now taking what she's learned from DMC and working as an instructor for the same program. She says she's chosen to pursue the new bachelor's degree to improve her managerial skills.
Sanchez, who earned his GED in 1979 and later joined the U.S. Navy, has been a construction contractor for almost 30 years. In the last 10 years, he's earned three associate degrees from DMC. He's decided to take on the bachelor's' program to build upon what he already knows from working in construction, learn new trades and management skills.
