Del Mar College to host first ever Viking Fest this Friday

The event will have everything from carnival games to a costume contest.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Looking for some Fall time fun? Del Mar College wants you to join them at their first annual Viking Fest. It's happening this Friday, Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Windward Campus and is open to everyone in the Coastal Bend.

Participants can expect and evening filled with games, live music, a costume contest and live demos of the college's state of the art programs.

Del Mar's Welding Applied Technology Program will kick off Viking Fest with their third annual Dia de los Muertos Welding Competition. Starting at 10 a.m. over 370 area high school college and trade school students will show off their welding skills while competing for scholarships. 

Have you ever been interested in sitting behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler? If so, you'll have a chance to check out the Del Mar's trucking simulator lab at Viking Fest along with other hands-on activities that give you a hands-on experience into the Del Mar's programs.

A total of 44 student clubs will be selling tickets that your whole family can use for multiple carnival games, food and beverages. All proceeds go directly back to Clubs’ campus and their community activities as part of their service learning projects.

There will also be a costume contest hosted by Student Leadership and Campus Life Office. That starts at 8 p.m. and winners can expect to receive a $50 gift card.
