HIGHLIGHTS: Last weekend at the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show

Nueces County 4-H ambassadors hosted a dog show with the help of some adorable kiddos and their four-legged friends.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Junior Livestock Show has kicked off another week at the Fairgrounds. Here are some highlights from last weekend:

Some furry friends put on some free and fun entertainment at the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Saturday afternoon. 

Nueces County 4-H ambassadors hosted a dog show with the help of some adorable kiddos who wore matching costumes with their four-legged friends. 

It was not a professional show, and organizers said it was a laid-back way to gather a crowd for some fun.

The event was also a great way to catch the eye of potential new members.

Jeorge Faske is one of those ambassadors, He said he's happy to see younger kids participating in activities at the fairgrounds. 

"It's a new way to get kids back into ag. There used to be a lot before COVID, and after COVID we've seen our numbers decrease and we'd like to see them go on the uprise, which they have. It's been a slow increase. We'd like to see that jump come back to its higher numbers."

We also got to see some kiddos throw down on the grill last Saturday. Dozens of youngsters got to work grilling their steaks and competing for the title of Grand Champion, which ultimately went to 

Last, but not least...

A new Queen was crowned Saturday. 

We caught up with 2023 Queen Giselle head of the Queen's Contest Saturday evening, She shared with us what it meant for her to win the Contest last year and recalled the moment the crown was placed on her head. 

Giselle is a Chemical Engineering major at Texas Tech University. She was excited about the Queen's Contest and had these words of wisdom to pass along to the newest member of NCJLS royalty:
