CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Donald Goode of Sinton, a man who dedicated his life to education here in the Coastal Bend, died Friday surrounded by family.
In the Taft and Sinton ISDs many will remember him as "Mr. Goode".
I had the honor of calling him grandpa.
He grew up in El Campo and served as an army medic during the Korean war. When he returned home, he attended Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, taking his studies to Mexico to learn Spanish.
That's where he met my grandmother, Angeles.
The two created a wonderful life here in South Texas.
He loved thrift stores, watching the news, basketball and Charles Barkley.
It was through this gentle and patient man, we all got to know and feel such a powerful and giving love. We will miss him very much.
He was 96 years old.
