JIM WELLS COUNTY, Texas — A DPS trooper as his patrol unit were hit while conducting a traffic stop Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened in Jim Wells County on Northbound 281 just before 5 p.m. The officer was talking to a driver when another vehicle ran into his patrol car, nearly hitting them. That car then landed in a ditch, but no one was seriously injured.
DPS officials want to remind drivers of the 'move over or slow down' law.
Drivers must move over or reduce their speed if they see police, fire or EMS units with their lights on.
