CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The man who died in a three-vehicle crash on State Highway 361 on Friday has been identified as Phillip Salinas.
Corpus Christi Police Department investigators said Salinas caused the accident that sent several people to the hospital Friday night right before 8:30 p.m., saying he was driving southbound on 361 and failed to stay in his lane.
He reportedly veered into the northbound lane and hit another vehicle, causing it to rollover onto the side of the highway. Six people were in that vehicle.
Police said he continued driving in the wrong lane, hitting a second vehicle which was carrying five people.
The people in the vehicles Salinas hit were not seriously injured, police said.
Salinas, who was 35, was alone in his vehicle.
It is unknown whether speed or alcohol were factors in the accident.
