CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Saturday will be a day of fun and activities for those attending this year's 25th annual Earth Day-Bay Day celebration. The event will take place at Heritage Park from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Program manager Satosha Patterson said the free, family-friendly event will feature opportunities for kids to have an amazing time while learning about the Coastal Bend's wildlife and environment, and even take home a free plant or catch a fish!
"Last year, nearly 10,000 people came out," said Patterson. "It is just a jam-packed day of a lot of fun and education. Our youth is where it's at and so, if we don't educate them, then how are they going to know for future generations."
Patterson said she wants those younger generations to be encouraged to do everything they can to take care of the Coastal Bend's natural resource.
"This event is to inspire and get our youth engaged and aware of opportunities that are here in the Coastal Bend, again, through academics and careers."
Kids and adults will get to interact with wildlife & learn about our environment and current technology being used by our Coastal Bend scientists at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College.
John J. Nelson with Del Mar College's Geospatial Technology Program said the Earth Day-Bay Day event is a wonderful collaboration that brings fun to the community.
"It's so exciting to see the faces of the kids and the parents when they're looking at everything from drones to cool robots, to all the other gear in the geospatial world," said Nelson.
