Farenthold introduces amendment to help protect CCAD jobs

The bill was pulled from debate before the amendment was voted on and will be postponed until a later date.

Congressman Blake Farenthold introduced an amendment this week to the Freedom from Government Competition Act of 2018 that protects Army depots throughout the country, including the Corpus Christi Army Depot.

HR 1339 requires the federal government to analyze if it would be more cost-effective for some projects to hire government contractors.

Farenthold supports saving the government money but feels the legislation could cause consequences to military depots. Farenthold said more than 3,600 civilian employees work at CCAD and his amendment would help protect vital jobs in the Corpus Christi area.

The bill was pulled from debate before the amendment was voted on and will be postponed until a later date.
