Mayor Guajardo proclaims Feb. 27 as citywide 'Bluesday Tuesday'

Every year during homecoming week, TAMU-CC invites the entire city and alumni to wear blue and show support for the Islanders.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — On Tuesday Mayor Guajardo and City of Corpus Christi named Feb. 27 as 2024's citywide "Bluesday Tuesday".

It is a TAMU-CC tradition to wear blue on Tuesdays to encourage school spirit. During homecoming week, the university invites the entire city and alumni to participate in Bluesday Tuesday.

City leaders were joined by students, faculty, and TAMU-CC president Dr. Kelly Miller.

"Our university is really here to represent our entire region," Miller said. "We hope that alumni certainly wear that blue, but we want to show pride from the entire city. The degrees that we offer, the leadership that we help bring to our community, the work that we do in research are all opportunities to bring pride to our city."

Homecoming week for the university officially kicks off Feb. 25 and runs through March 2.
