CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — First Christian Church invited the community to celebrate a long-time seasonal tradition Saturday.
The Annual Boars Head and Yule Log Festival is an hour-long pageant that retells the story of the holiday.
The ancient Christian event was filled with renaissance costumes, over 180 actors, choirs, and an orchestra all celebrating the end of Christmas.
The church has been putting on the celebration for 40 years now but the tradition itself actually goes back over 200 years!
As long-standing as the event may be, organizers say the feeling it brings will never get old.
Trey McCampbell, Chair of the Boar's Head Guild
"I think everyone walks away with a sense that we did something to help spread the light and that we brought joy to people in Corpus Christi and that we helped end the Christmas season on an upbeat note."
Admission was free -- but they encouraged guests to bring in canned goods to be donated to the Coastal Bend Food Bank.
He says that up until this year -- the church has collected close to 40-thousand cans of food from those who wish to support the show and their community.
