CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Mark your calendars for this weekend because the 35th annual Polkafest is happening in Corpus Christi.
The Polkafest will be held at Sokol Hall on Kostoryz.
Attendees can expect to see a lot of fun polka music from three different bands, plenty of dancing, and all the good food you can eat.
"Our culture consists of lots of music, social gatherings lots of music involved, so a lot of Czechs were into music and playing instruments and singing. As people know, kolaches, so that's what we're probably known for most. So we have lots of pastries. You've never gone to a Czech person's house without them having food to eat because they always made food for an army," said Michael Urbanovsky, President of the Czech Heritage Society of South Texas
If you would like to head out to Polkafest yourself, the doors will open at 10 a.m. Admission is $10, but children under 13 get in free with an adult.
