IBC Bank representatives spent Friday morning with students at Galvan Elementary School to discuss the importance of financial skills.
The program is called Minitropolis and students learn how a community economy operates and how to be financially literate when they become adults.
Students created a fictional city and took action in the city offices and small businesses.
"It's a program that the company started 20 years ago in some markets that's had an impact with the schools," said Harold Shockley Jr., President, and CEO of IBC Bank.
"How to speak in front of others and then know how transactions work. Know how to save money. Know how to spend money correctly, and so forth," Principal Diana Ybarra said. "So I think it's going to be great in character building as well."
Galvan Elementary hopes to officially implement the program by fall of next year.
