CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A barbecue benefit is being held Sunday at the George West City Park pavilion for trooper Oscar Loya who was recently diagnosed with germinoma cancer.
Loya was recently assigned to the George West Highway Patrol office before transferring to Edinburg and has been with the department for over a year.
All the money raised at the event will help assist his family and cover medical expenses.
The event will kick off Sunday at 11 a.m. and end at 3 p.m.
Plates will be $13.
