CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Friday was a special day for 23 men and women who will be the newest police officers in Corpus Christi.
The newest police officers walked the graduation state after a grueling 31-week training program for the 77th Police Academy. The program combines physical activity with academics.
According to coordinators, the cadets also learned how to be a part of the community they will serve.
"We're training so many different skills today, it's not just about learning how to make arrests but also interacting with the community and being professional and being part of the community," Police Academy coordinator Brad Pici said.
The new officers will be out patrolling the streets in the coming days.
3News would like to congratulate all the new officers.
