CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi crowds made their way downtown for a number of events taking place Friday night , including the kickoff of the 60th Greek Festival.
The festival will feature traditional foods, dancing, pastries and live music. It is the largest fundraiser for the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
Organizers said a small number of Greek families came together over 100 years ago and ultimately founded a community that has grown tremendously.
Those families would later establish the city's annual Greek festival, which organizers and attendees can agree has created a wonderful synergy between Corpus Christi and the Greek community.
The Greek Festival will continue Saturday from 12:00 p.m.-10 p.m. and then on Sunday from 12:00 p.m.- to 5:00 p.m.
