CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Runners are gearing up for the Beach to Bay relay marathon, with out-of-town guests checking into hotels across the city. However, some visitors told 3NEWS they've been having water issues.
Houston resident Audrianna Brown was visiting the city on a work trip. She said that while she's not participating in the relay, she was still inconvenienced by the lack of hot water.
"They said the water would come back on and I would have hot water that day, been taking cold showers for three days now," she said.
Brown said words like angry and upset didn't even begin to scratch the surface of how she feels.
"Come from work around 8 a.m. and there's no water coming out of my faucet at all," she said.
Corpus Christi Water Director of Water Infrastructure Wesley Nebgen said his team responded to the initial call days ago.
"We went out to the hotel and we shut the water off for them based on a request from the hotel because they had a leak on their side somewhere within their facility," he said.
Nebgen said that when it comes to work requests like these, things can get a little tricky when it comes to responsibility.
"Any leak that occurs after the City's water meter, outside our easement or our right of way belongs to their private, it belongs to the property owner," he said.
Nebgen said that any city crews that were at the hotel were just doing quality inspections.
"All the valves were in correct position, nothing was leaking on our side after operating the valves, things like that," he said.
3NEWS reached out to the Emerald Beach Hotel for comment, but did not hear back.
