Habitat for Humanity begins demolition day on homes for three new families

Volunteers spent the day cutting trees, mowing grass and moving debris.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Habitat for Humanity Corpus Christi began their latest project on Saturday

The organization partnered with Gulf Coast Growth Ventures through United Way of the Coastal Bend to begin clearing land on three lots in Taft, TX.

These lots will become home for three future Habitat families. Gulf Coast Growth Ventures was on site with employees and volunteers helping to assist the build.

All hands were on deck to help clear the space by cutting trees, mowing grass and moving debris to help prepare the new homes.

Andrew Mitton with Gulf Coast Growth Ventures said he was happy to be helping with the project.

"It's a really nice way for families to get involved volunteering and making a difference in the community I can say since we've been here in the Coastal Bend it's been part of our culture to give back to the community," Mitton said.

Habitat for Humanity helps families in need, with a vision to get them into a stable and affordable place they can call home.

Volunteers are always welcome to join in with future builds. They can learn more by visiting the website here.
