March is Women's History Month, a time when women throughout the United States are honored for their contributions to society and continued leadership.
HEB honored 31 female employees for their devotion to excellence and civic responsibility Thursday at the Texas State Aquarium. It was HEB's Women of Distinction celebration.
The award was inspired by HEB's founder Florence Butt, who opened a small grocery store in Kerrville 133 years ago. Organizers said the women being honored represent the diversity of their workforce.
"Back in the 1900s, literally back in the 1900s, we had a female leader that wanted to provide, yet again, for her family, and how do I create a better environment for my family that I love, and the community that surrounds my family," Regina Garcia said.
This year, 400 more female partners statewide joined the ranks to receive the esteemed award.
