CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — For over 40 years, the legendary Hi-Ho Restaurant has been serving authentic Mexican dishes to many people in the Coastal Bend community. Now, the restaurant is going to have the opportunity to serve its best dishes at the Buc Days Festival.
The owner of Hi-Ho Restaurant Rick Garcia said he's excited for the opportunity to be part of a South Texas tradition as big as the Buc Days Festival.
"I would just like to go see if I could feed the community, enjoy Buc Days, and have fun with it," he said.
Several months ago, Garcia and his staff had a scare when his restaurant had a small fire that set them back for some time.
"It was right before Thanksgiving. A lot of people would come by, that were coming from out of town to visit the restaurant," Garcia said. "I felt bad because we couldn't serve them."
Eleven days after the fire, Garcia reopened his restaurant and has since shown no sign of slowing down. Garcia and his crew are headed to the Buc Days Festival this year to cook for attendees.
Buc Days President and CEO Johnny Philipello said he's excited to bring Hi-Ho Restaurant to Buc Days.
"Well, who doesn't like Hi-Ho? To really bring something that you can experience on the weekdays and evenings at Buc Days, where you can't necessarily do that all the time at their restaurant. We thought it was a great fit," Philipello said.
Buc Days will be from May 2 to May 12. To buy tickets click here.
