Holly-Days at the South Texas Botanical Gardens starts Friday

The Botanical Gardens will have extended hours every Friday and Saturday, staying open until 7:30 p.m. all the way up to Christmas.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — You know who you are!!

Thanksgiving is over and we can finally prepare for the next big winter holiday without any pushback.

The South Texas Botanical Garden's Holly-Days event kicks off this weekend.

Visitors can enjoy holiday cheer with festive lights, trees made from recycled plastic bottles, and lots of photo opportunities with Santa Claus.

Dr. Michael Womack, executive director of the Botanical Gardens joined us earlier this week on First Edition to talk about the recycling initiative they will offer this weekend.

"If you bring a water bottle or single use plastic bags to the botanical gardens, we will recycle it for you. This is all for a partnership that we have with H-E-B trying to encourage people to do more recycling," said Womack.

The Botanical Gardens will have extended hours every Friday and Saturday, staying open until 7:30 p.m. all the way up to Christmas.
