CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A voluntary evacuation of the Coastal Bend could start Friday and Saturday ahead of Hurricane Beryl.
The latest tracks show Beryl moving north and growing stronger ahead of landfall.
The shift would bring it almost parallel to the Texas Gulf Coast.
That could make pinpointing an exact landfall very difficult and makes it tougher to determine where to evacuate.
Typically people evacuate to one of three places:
• North to San Antonio
• Southwest to the Rio Grande Valley
• Northeast to Houston
For this storm, we asked our meteorologists where people should evacuate.
As of Friday morning, Chief Meteorologist Alan Holt suggests people head to San Antonio.
“San Antonio is far enough removed from direct hazards even if it’s a tropical depression,” he explained. “There is still a threat toward Houston if this north shift continues.”
