CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Kendra Nunez was arrested for intoxication assault with a vehicle after Corpus Christi Police Department officers said she caused a wrong-way crash that injured at least three people and affected several vehicles Sunday night.
At 10:10 p.m., officers responded to a four-vehicle crash with injuries on the 7400 block of I-37 after receiving multiple calls about a wrong-way driver.
The 23-year-old woman reportedly was driving northbound in the southbound lane, according to a CCPD press release.
She hit one vehicle, which caused her car to spin and set off a chain reaction of crashes. The spinout caused her to hit a second vehicle, which was hit by a third vehicle.
Three people, including a 74-year-old woman, were injured in the first car Nunez reportedly hit. They were taken to a local hospital, where the elderly woman was being treated for what police called "serious" injuries.
No injuries were reported in the other two cars.
