Chief Deputy Lee Ramon of the Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office was placed on administrative leave without pay Monday pending an ongoing investigation, according to a statement released Tuesday.
After receiving media inquiries about Ramon's status, the Sheriff's Office released the statement on Tuesday. It explained that Sheriff Daniel Bueno recently learned of the investigation, which involves a situation that originated prior to Ramon's employment with the Sheriff's Office.
Since formal charges have not been filed and the investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff's Office said details of that situation remain confidential.
Sheriff Bueno met with Ramon on Monday and the deputy was placed on administrative leave without pay until the situation is resolved.
