CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Nueces County District Attorney Jimmy Granberry held onto the seat given to him by Gov. Greg Abbott.
Granberry won his first election to the office on Tuesday, defeating former county judge and defense attorney Terry Shamsie.
Now that the election is out of the way, he told Josh Maxwell that his focus can now turn to retaining and training the young talent in his office.
"You hear the phrase a lot 'Freedom isn't free,' " he said. "Well, neither is public safety. My goal is to retain the good lawyers that I have for as long as their careers last, and have them train the young lawyers that come after them long after I'm gone."
He said he also looks to make an example of those committing violent crime in Nueces county, no matter their age.
