CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Inmates from the Kleberg County jail were taken out of the system for a day to paint crosswalks at two Kingsville campuses.
The special program was hosted by the Kleberg County Constable's Office and it's all part of the county's effort to make getting to and from school safer for students before classes start in August.
"I noticed that there was a lack of parking for the parents. and parents were packing everywhere and kids were having trouble crossing the street. so two years ago I pained the curbs and we had the jail staff assist in painting the curbs." said Constable Bill Hack PCT. 5
According to Constables, in addition to the new safety paint, inmates will also be increasing security by adding extra patrols.
