Kleberg County officials discuss hurricane plan of action

"If that storm takes a direct hit on Baffin Bay or not, we're standing by ready to assist," Madrid said. "So, every resource I got, we're going to load up."

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Officials got together in Kleberg County to go over the plan of action for anything Hurricane Beryl could bring.

Everyone met in the new VLP building at the JK Northway Expo Center.

Border Patrol, DPS and game wardens gathered along with the sheriff, police chief and County Judge Rudy Madrid, called the meeting to discuss plans for more water and sandbags, along with equipment needed for any potential water rescues.

Madrid also discussed the FEMA dome at the high school which will be used as a shelter if needed.

"If that storm takes a direct hit on Baffin Bay or not, we're standing by ready to assist," Madrid said. "So, every resource I got, we're going to load up.  If it goes to Aransas Pass again, we're going to load up and we're going to help our partners out there."

Judge Madrid has closed all county offices on Monday and he could extend that to Tuesday, depending on conditions.
