CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Local tire dealers are being warned about a scam.
Corpus Christi police said people claiming to be from Spring, Texas are purchasing tires with a stolen credit card and sending a third party to pick up the tires.
Police are advising tire dealers to be suspicious of the purchase of a large of number of tires or callers from the Spring or Houston area. Police said to check to make sure that the credit card used wasn't stolen.
In addition to that, police said they believe some dealers have been scammed but have not reported it to police.
They are urging tire sellers who may have been scammed to call their Investigation Division.
