Man fires multiple shots near church

The incident happened near the First Calvary Baptist Church off of Carver Drive.

CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) — A neighborhood was left shaken up on Sunday morning.

According to police, they were dispatched to a disturbance at a home near Carver Drive and Easley Street around 8 A.M. Right next to the intersection is the First Baptist Calvary Church.

When officers arrived, they said a man pulled out a gun and fired four shots. One of those shots hit a nearby home.

Officials said after he fired the shots, the man got into a car and drove off.

As of Sunday evening, it is unknown why the man fired the gun.

Neighbors said they're surprised by the violence and said nothing like that has ever happened in the area.

"I've been here thirty years as pastor of this church and I've never had a shooting right here next to my church like we have today," Bishop Charles Richardson Sr. with the First Baptist Calvary said. "This is the first time but there is a first time for everything but we're working hard to keep our community safe."

Luckily, no one was injured during the shooting.

Police said they will continue to investigate to find the suspect and when found, he will be charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
