The Texas Department of Public Safety has confirmed that one man was killed in a head-on collision around 5:15 p.m. Monday on FM 70, about four miles east of Bishop.

State Troopers said the driver of a blue pickup passed around another pickup that was towing a vehicle in the westbound lane of FM 70. The blue pickup cut in front of the other driver and had to apply their brakes, forcing the driver of the towing pickup to hit the brakes as well. This caused the towing vehicle to jackknife and swerve into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a sport utility vehicle.

The driver of the towing vehicle, identified as 26-year-old Rolando Maynor Alvarez-Carrera of Guatemala, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said they are now looking to contact the driver of the blue Ford pickup truck, possibly an F-250 or F-350. If you have any information, call DPS troopers at 361-698-5500.
