CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A 61-year-old man who died in a motorcycle accident on Hwy. 361 near Fish Pass Road on Nov. 2 was identified by the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday.
Motorcyclist Tracy Tompkins died at the scene of blunt-force trauma after crashing into a pickup truck that was traveling northbound at around 7:47 a.m. in the 8900 block of Hwy. 361, officials said.
Corpus Christi Police Department Traffic investigators said Tompkins was riding northbound and passing motorists while driving at a high rate of speed.
Investigators said the truck's driver slowed to onto Fish Pass Road, and as he did, the motorcyclist T-boned the truck in an attempt to pass the driver.
Excessive speed and unsafe passing were the factors in the accident, officials said, and the truck's driver was not cited in the crash.
