CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Beeville man was arrested Monday after reportedly taunting sheriff's deputies who were attempting to arrest him for ramming his vehicle into a family member's 18-wheeler in the Blueberry Hill subdivision.

Anthony Arredondo was allegedly under the influence when he used his truck to damage the family member's trailer and break its windows while our region was experiencing a severe rainstorm.

Bee County Sheriff's said Arredondo ran into his residence as deputies were about to place him under arrest. That is when it was discovered that there was a protective order against him in effect for that address. Deputies said they attempted to get him to cooperate and surrender.

Instead, Arrendondo reportedly opened the door briefly to taunt authorities, giving them time to use a chemical agent on him before he locked himself back in the home.

After another hour of attempting to have Arredondo surrender, Deputies made entry into the residence and placed Arredondo in custody.

The man was charged and arrested for criminal mischief, evading arrest, violating a protective order and possession of marijuana.

Earlier that morning, Deputy Juan Gallegos with the sheriff's office conducted a traffic stop that located over $13,000 in currency believed to be associated with narcotics. Esmeralda Tapia of Beeville was determined by authorities to have been involved in criminal activity and arrested.

Deputy Gallegos searched the vehicle and Tapia was arrested and charged for money laundering. Her bond was set at $5,000 and the incident remains under investigation.

Later that day, another deputy reportedly attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Hwy. 59. The driver, Robert Diaz, of Three Rivers failed to stop before pulling into a grocery store and running off on foot. He was eventually caught and arrested on an outstanding warrant and other charges.
