Medical Examiner's Office identifies victim in I-37, Rand Morgan crash

Witnesses said the driver of the truck, 18-year-old Grayson Salas, was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before crashing.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man who died from his injuries over the weekend after a car accident.

50-year-old Rene Ramos of Bishop, Texas, died from injuries he sustained in an accident Saturday night on I-37 off Rand Morgan.

Police said Ramos was traveling north when a truck came up and hit him from behind. He then lost control of his vehicle and hit the center median.

Ramos was taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital where he later died.

Witnesses said the driver of the truck, 18-year-old Grayson Salas, was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic before crashing. He was arrested for intoxication assault with a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance, but his charges will now be upgraded to intoxicated manslaughter.
