Michael Hunter's final push for mayor in runoff election

Hunter says water is the main issue the city is struggling with that he’d like to change.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Mayoral candidate Michael Hunter is preparing his final campaign push for the runoff election against incumbent Mayor Paulette Guajardo.

3NEWS was able to catch up with Hunter on Saturday while he was at the Corpus Christi Country Club for a private event.

He said that it is important to inform those who may not be aware of the runoff election taking place on Dec. 14. Hunter says water is a main issue the city is struggling with that he’d like to change.

"The major issue is water, water should have been the major issue last time around. We should already be in Stage 3 water restrictions, at least  informing the public more than what we currently are," Hunter said. "Going forward, I guess I would say get us a new water source, the whole state is dry, Corpus Christi is not the only one. We need water bad."

Early voting begins on Dec. 2 - 10.
