Missing fisherman found safe by Nueces County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Coast Guard

A fisherman went missing while fishing off the Intracoastal Waterway near the Barney Davis Power Plant in Flour Bluff.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County Sheriff's Office was called to search for a missing fisherman Wednesday morning off the Intracoastal Waterway near the Barney Davis Power Plant in Flour Bluff.

According to the Sheriff's Office, it was around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday when they received the call. A group of fishermen from Austin, Texas, reported that they had dropped a friend off to fish in the shallow waters near the Bluff Marina at around 7:30 a.m. When they returned to pick him up at around 9:10 a.m., he was nowhere to be found.

The group of fishermen from Austin reportedly searched the area for about an hour before calling authorities.

At approximately 9:22 this morning the NCSO was dispatched to a 911 ... call for "Help" of two male subjects trapped inside of a train car near County Road 40 and County Road 77. Deputies of Nueces County Sheriff's Office advised and were assisted by Border Patrol, Robstown P.D., a Nueces County Pct.

The Nueces County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Coast Guard were sent out to conduct a search and thankfully were able to locate and rescue the missing fisherman. No injuries were reported.
