CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —
The Nueces County Sheriff’s Office ‘Jail Academy’ class graduated from a four-week training program.
The program grants those new graduates licenses to be correctional officers, adding to the list of CO’s in Nueces County.
“Today they completed their licensing process the ‘jail school’ and the state license exam,” Sheriff at NCSO, J.C. Hooper said. “And so now we have 12 more licensed correctional officers working here in Nueces County Jail.”
The NCSO family says they are so proud of the new correctional officers and cannot wait to see the great things they will do.
One graduate, Gerald Gomez, said he is the first in his family to achieve this type of goal and now has new bonds with his fellow classmates.
“The bond itself was amazing,” Gomez said. “You know you develop relationships with your coworkers and at the end of the day we have each other's back. It’s like a brotherhood that I cannot explain. It’s just amazing. To be able to rely on your brothers. Brothers and sisters, of course.”
