New Early Learning Center teaches with tech

The goal of it all being a smooth transition from toddlerhood to kindergarten, which is an edge that the Boys & Girls Club board knows is lacking in the area.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There's a new Early Learning Center at the Boys & Girls Club in Flour Bluff and they are not only teaching kids with the latest technology, they are enrolling students as young as six weeks old!

The kids are placed into development programs by age and taught TEA compliant curriculum based on their age group's learning potential.

The goal of it all being a smooth transition from toddlerhood to kindergarten, which is an edge that the Boys & Girls Club board knows is lacking in the area.

"Typically, we serve 6 to 18-years-old, but they took a chance on serving the younger kids because Coastal Bend doesn't have a lot of early learning centers. So, when we developed ours, we made sure that we integrated technology in with it," Kim Barrientos, president and CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of the Coastal Bend said.

That technology being smartboards, iPads and other teaching tools kids may see in the classroom.

The Boys & Girls Club Early Learning Center is enrolling now and workforce assistance is available for parents.
