Texas State Aquarium plans to reopen Friday; USS Lexington remains closed

The city of Corpus Christi also released a list of roads that remain closed because of the storm's aftereffects.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas State Aquarium plans to reopen Friday and the USS Lexington will remain closed because of flooding on North Beach, which began Wednesday and worsened Thursday as rain continued to fall.

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority and American Red Cross helped city of Corpus Christi staff helped North Beach residents flooded out of their homes temporarily seek shelter Thursday in the Corpus Christi Gym, the City stated in a news release.

The streets on North Beach weren't the only Corpus Christi ones Tropical Storm Alberto's outer bands left underwater: the Corpus Christi Marina currently also is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

A barge at the Lawrence Street T-Head even took on heavy amounts of water, partially sinking it in the bay.
