Corpus Christi (KIII News) — Residents gathered at the Nueces County Courthouse Thursday to honor a man who has given most of his life to civil service.
Judge Loyd Neal has dedicated 40 years of his life to serving the community.
According to Neal, it was a civic duty for him as County Judge, and he performed proudly for the citizens of Corpus Christi and Nueces County.
Neal will leave his post as County Judge with a long list of accomplishments he believes benefited all of his constituents.
"I'm really grateful to the citizens of this county. You know they not only elected me four times as mayor but also three times as county judge. You know somebody asked me the other day, how do you want to be remembered? Moreover, said well if people say he was a good man. That's all," Neal said.
Dec. 31 will be Neal's last day in office. Barbara Canales will take office on Jan.1 as Nueces County Judge.
